AT2DW QSOs were uploaded to ARRL’s LoTW today. The QSL cards have been printed and shipped by Gennady, UX5UO and should reach Sarla within the next few days. Snail-mail posting of cards would begin soon after. Meanwhile, if there are still any cases of busted or missing QSOs, please reach out to Sarla at sarla.yl@gmail.com

The logs have been uploaded and OQRS has been enabled. We have found that one of our computer logs has an issue with the timings of QSOs. All other information as per call sign, band and mode are intact. Most of these QSOs are in SSB mode. This is a software glitch which we did not notice during the expedition. I request all those not finding their QSOs, mostly SSB to get in touch with me at sarla.yl@gmail.com. If you are in the log, then we shall do the needful. Kindly excuse us for the trouble, but this is something we did not envisage. Rest assured that action will be taken immediately.

Those who have donated via PayPal will automatically get a QSL card. No extra payment is required. Kindly give us time to organize our card printing. We will announce their readiness via the website. We promise to start the process of QSLing at the earliest. I thank you for your patience.

AT2DW went QRT at around midnight (local) on 23rd March 2012. It was a wonderful experience for the team and we worked with excellent coordination, working all the band openings in every mode. As team leader, I was blessed to work with such fine operators. I also want to thank the entire ham radio community in the world for their enthusiasm in working us.

Internet connectivity on the island was very slow and intermittent, and hence we could not do justice to the online system. We are now back home and working on merging the logs and uploading them. We will iron out all our glitches and upload the entire log. I request all to have patience. Kindly address all your queries about logs only to me to my email address – sarla.yl@gmail.com. Online QSLing via ClubLog will be enabled once we get all the logs uploaded.

We are extremely grateful to IREF for sponsoring this IOTA expedition. We also thank all those who have donated via Paypal.

Online log update

The current log update on ClubLog doesn’t contain a very clean and comprehensive ADIF file. There are still gaps in the log which are being filled and we intend completing this in the next 2 days. Hopefully, you should see all your QSOs after that. Post the final upload, the Online QSL Request System (OQRS) would be enabled. Apologies for the delay in uploads and thank you for your cooperation.

Update

There seems to have been a glitch while merging logs and some QSOs are not reflecting within ClubLog after today’s log update. The QSOs are not lost so there is no cause for worry. The issue would be sorted out over the weekend.

The team would be QRV for a few more hours; probably until 0000z before WPX SSB starts. (Good luck to all in the contest!)

Also, the photogallery has been updated with lots of pictures so do browse through. Click on ‘older entries’ to view the various album pages.

Press Release # 6: Update

The operation is drawing to a close and antennas are being taken down. We had many challenges during the operation but we managed to keep the stations running.

We continue to maintain our focus towards the harder to reach parts of the world, especially NA . We are happy to have put more NA stations in the log in the last few days as band conditions have gradually improved.

We are reasonably pleased with the cooperation from the DX community whenever we have asked stations to stand by.

A partial log upload and few pics will be added here so do keep checking.

Everything is going smoothly on the island. A lot of Europeans are already in the AT2DW log. Unfortunately we cannot update the online log as frequently as we want to because of poor internet connectivity. Ops at the moment: 2SWS, NKS, IZO, NXM and CDP.

Press Release # 4: Equipment list and QRGs

The advance party spent the whole of Thursday putting up antennas and are almost nearing completion. It is likely that they may begin operations late on 15th evening.

Main Radios: Kenwood TS 590, Elecraft K3

Backup: Icom 718, Yaesu FT 857D (one of the backup rigs maybe pressed into service for a 3rd station once the entire team assembles on the weekend)

Antennas: Verticals 40m-10m, Inverted L on 80m

QRGs: The operation will adhere to the international IOTA frequencies, subject to QRM. We will be split all the time, listening up. Please pay attention to operator’s instructions.

The advance party, comprising Sarla VU2SWS, Mickey VU2IZO and Nandu VU2NKS, left on the afternoon of 13th March from Mumbai to Okha. Their ETA at the port of Okha is at 1600hrs (local) on Wednesday, 14th and they are expected to reach the island QTH by 1800 hrs. They will spend the following two days erecting antennas and plan to be QRV from Friday, 16th.

The team members would be arriving in batches with an advance party reaching the island on 15th March. Rest of the team members will arrive on a staggered basis until 17th March. The team plans to be active with 2 stations, with the possibility of a 3rd station, and will use vertical antennas. They will remain on the island until 23rd March. Preparations are on in full swing and all equipment is being packed.
