From 5 to 8 January, 2012 Tim, NL8F and Yuri, N3QQ, Russian Robinson Club members will be active from IOTA reference NA-240, Bethel County Group. This is the last new IOTA reference from Alaska. They will use the famous call KL7RRC/p. The Russian Robinson Club has spent a lot of energy in recent years in triggering new IOTA references, and in particular focused on the remote islands of the Bering Sea. This latest adventure will not be easy, but the data by the U.S. NOAA will ensure that the sea will be frozen so as to allow the passage to the group of islands. With a temperature of about -20 ° C it is difficult to imagine being able to mount antennas and set up radios to operate in such extreme conditions, but this team continue to make history as part of our hobby, remembering as well KL7RRC’s 2009 activation from Ogliuga Island (NA-233) ,Chirikof Island (NA-235) in 2010 and St. Matthew Island (NA-232) in July, 2011. It will be an ambitious prize for all island chasers, especially in light of the IOTA MARATHON! Photo credits by flickr:jomilo75. [mappress mapid="37"]
