Next weekend: ARRL DX CW Contest

Here is yet another weekend with a major contest: the ARRL International DX Contest, CW! Both CW and SSB ARRL DX contests represent a great opportunity to non-Americans to work rare states for their WAS awards. This contest is set to run the full weekend: from 0000 UTC Saturday, February 18th to 2359 UTC Sunday the 19th.

Bands for operation include 160 through 10 meters. The deadline to send your logs to DXCW@arrl.org is March 20. For non-Americans, only QSOs with mainland USA and Canada will count. The 48 contiguous US states and the 14 Canadian provinces or territories will be valid as multipliers. For contest rules, see http://www.arrl.org/arrl-dx.

Another contest worth noting is the Russian PSK contest: accepted modes are BPSK31, BPSK63 and BPSK125. This contest lasts 24 hours, from 2100 UTC Friday 17 to 2100 UTC Saturday the 18th. For further details and complete rules, see http://www.epc-ru.ru/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=562&Itemid=192.

As for DXpeditions, after the intense activity of the past few weeks (ZK2C will have gone QRT before week’s end), we wish to remind you concerning the operation of H40FN and H40FK from Temotu Province on both CW and PSK.

And let’s not forget a few other operations (some of them are very interesting) by single operators:

- 6O3A will be active from Somalia during the ARRL CW contest. In the past few days he has often been heard on the air on CW and SSB. Daily updates here.

- FW0NAR is back on Wallis Island, after the short side-trip to Futuna. Unfortunately, his linear which he uses on 18 to 28 MHz is not working at the moment. Laci, FW0NAR, can still use the 300W amplifiers on the lower bands (1.8 – 14 MHz). You can follow his updates at here.

- 3B9/OE4AAC is active from Rodrigues Island on 40 through 10 meter CW.
