HS0ZIB is on the air from Mynamar as XZ1K. This is not a DXpedition type operation, so the pressure is not on to work this country during a specific time frame. Simon actually expects his work to keep him there for the next several years.
Where in the past you were only able to work XZ1K on PSK31, Simon indicates that he now hopes to focus his efforts on SSB as well. In the upcoming days and weeks you should be able to hear Simon on 10, 20 and 40 meters.
The K in XZ1K stands for Kawthaung, the name of the town which Simon now calls his home away from home, a small municipality located at the far southern end of the country, with the Gulf of Thailand to the east and the Andaman Sea to the west. He continues to travel between his new QTH in the Union of Mynamar and his home QTH in Thailand.
Simon works as a construction manager in both Mynamar and Thailand. He also volunteers his time and energy as a language teacher and offers instruction in computer science to residents of Kawthaung Township.
