CY0/VE1AWW [Update] – Sable Island

[UPDATE]: The OPDX bullettin reports a message by Alan who informs us about his earlier QRTdue to flock of migratory birds has been hampered by his antennas. The Canadian authorities who control the island, that it is a natural reserve, has ordered Alan to the immediate removal of all antennas.

CY0/VE1AWW continues activity from Sable Island, but not without a few problems.

Alan’s 40/80/160 antenna is down, with no immediate plans of fixing it. He can work 30, 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 meter PSK.

Alan is a government employee of Sable Island Station.

His equipment includes a Kenwood TS-690S with antenna tuner, running no more than 100 watts through a Hy-gain AV-18VS vertical on top of a 30 foot tower.  He also uses DigiPan 2.0 software for BPSK 31, usually at about 35 watts.

Hopefully you’ll still be able to pound out a few more contacts with him before he goes QRT sometime before the end of the year.

QSL via home call.
