It’s time once again for the CQ WW DX RTTY contest. The most important of RTTY contests takes place over the last full weekend of September. For sure, the main rules are well known. It’s worth recalling that the sum of worked zones, DXCC entities, US States and Canadian provinces counts as a multiplier. Hawaii and Alaska do not count as US States, but only as DXCC entities.
Contacts between stations on different continents are worth three points. Contacts between stations on the same continent but different countries, two points. Contacts between stations in the same country, one point. QSO on 160 meters are not valid.
The number exchange is formed by the RST report, plus zone (ie, 59905). US and VE stations also send US state or VE area (ie,59905 MA).
The contest web site is www.cqwwrtty.com. The rules can be found at www.cqwwrtty.com/CQWWRTTY_Rules_2012.pdf
A list of interesting announced operations is found at www.ng3k.com/Misc/cqr2012.html.
Regarding Dxpedition activity, the main event of this weekend is clearly that of 3D2C, Conway Reef, on the air since September 26th, on all bands. In 2009 there had been another DXpedition, 3D20CR, but then the higher bands were much less open than now, hence 3D2C presents a very good opportunity to work Conway Reef on the bands. We are confident that 3D2C won’t disappoint anyone, since a lot of team members are the same as 3D2R’s (Rotuma 2011) which was very succesful. 3D2C is active until October 5th and the web site is www.yt1ad.info/3d2c/index.html.
It’s also worth considering ZD9UW operated by M0VFC from Tristan da Cunha September 27th through October 4th mainly on SSB with some RTTY.
