Next Weekend: Oceania DX Contest CW

For the second weekend in a row, contest activity focuses on Oceania, with the CW round of the 2012 Oceania DX Contest taking place from 08:00 UTC Saturday 13 October to 08:00 UTC Sunday 14 October.We won’t dwell too much on this contest, having already dealt with the SSB round last week. The rules are basically the same and can be downloaded at www.oceaniadxcontest.com/rules.pdf. Logs must be submitted no later than November 12 to cw@oceaniadxcontest.com.

During the same weekend there is also the SSB round of the Scandinavian Activity Contest. The web site is www.sactest.net/blog (Rules: www.sactest.net/blog/rules). For further details, we suggest you read our recent article covering the CW SAC round. The contest starts at 12:00 UTC, Saturday and ends at 11:59 UTC, Sunday. Logs must be uploaded to www.sactest.net within two weeks following the end of the contest.

Regarding Dxpedition activities, these are the last few days to work TT8TT in Chad and 5U5U, 5U6E and 5U8NK in Niger. Besides the strong HF activity, these two expeditions are giving good chances even in 50 MHz to European hams during the local afternoons.

In view of their upcoming Dxpedition to Western Kiribati as T30PY, a Brazilian team is already operating from Fiji with several individual call signs: 3D2ZY, 3D2AS, 3D2OP, 3D2PT, 3D2XB, 3D2XC and 3D2MM. Their activity will go on until October 15.
