Today August 11, 2012 ended prematurely the mini DXpedition from Los Roques Island (IOTA SA-035) of Alexander (Sasha for friends) UA9YAB. Unfortunately, during a swim his heart stopped, he had 50 years. Sasha was a skilled and experienced operator on phone and CW, we remember him for many activities, first by the various former ex-Soviet republics, also from Mongolia, his home was in Biysk, a town not far from the Mongolian border. In the last January he was active as XU7AEQ from Cambodia.
He leaves a wife, Natalia, and two children, of whom the youngest was only 3 years old. The Russian ham community on the Forum QRZ.RU are in contact with the family and the Russian embassy in Caracas. Return procedures are long and difficult, but also most expensive, they launched an initiative for those who want to make a donation to the family to cover the costs of repatriation of remains (about 30,000 dollars). At this link all the information translated into English.
On behalf of the editorial staff to be our condolences to the family of Alexander, we will miss his signal and his voice, listened until yesterday on frequencies.
