OX5YL Greenland

ANNOUNCEMENT:

OX5YL will be active on HF from Kangerlussuaq from 16 – 20 August, 2013 with the following YL operators:

  • Unni-LA6RHA
  • Mio-JR3MVF
  • Chae-HL1KDW
  • Kay-WA0WOF
  • Solveig-SM6KAT

The last YL expedition in 2010 was very successful so we 5 YLs hope this also will be that.

So in August this year the five YLs on the left will try again to give more radio amateurs around the world a chance of getting either a new country or a YL country in their log.

We will be on the radio with the call OX5YL around the clock these days to try to give as many as possible  the chance of working Yls from OX.

All of the YLs have good training in working pile ups. Let’s only hope for good propagation whilst on Greenland.

With YLs from so many different countries we can serve you hams out there in addition to English,  also on Scandinavian languages, German, Japanese and Korean -  if needed.

We especially urge so many YLs as possible to come on the bands those days. .

We will update these pages regularly towards our departure for Greenland.

    Hello,
I am sending this message in hopes to gain listeners in your region of the world.
In the coming week,we will be launching an Amateur radio balloon containing 4 separate transmitters.
Our goal is to get this balloon over the Atlantic ocean and into Europe but lack tracking stations between Rochester,NY and the Eastern/North Eastern potions of North America.Nova Scotia and possibly Greenland is a very good location as the jet stream this time of year is flowing in that general area from launch site.
Here are payload details and your help would be appreciated.Launch day and time not yet known (weather) but will be anytime next week starting Monday 01,2013.Thank you.

Both trackers will start to transmit RTTY 7N2 50 baud on their respective
frequencies(434.500 mhz). If you can get receivers you’ll get live updates
as long as they are in range. There is no power saving but APRS will not
transmit until they are in range of Europe and/or the Azores ( i didn’t see
the point in enabling it on 144.800 and the APRS module is a fixed
    frequency).
10 meter CW beacon recently added @ 28.219 mhz +/-
