Mission Futura: Samantha IZ0UDF, first italian astronaut

Here we are!

Tonight, at 21:01 UTC the powerful rockets of the Soyuz TMA15-M will turn on in Baikonur, Kazakhstan. So the mission ISS number 42, called “Futura”, will start. On board there will be a crew of three astronauts including our Italian Captain Samantha Cristoforetti, the first Italian astronaut ever.

Captain Cristoforetti is also an amteur radio operator with the call IZ0UDF and we hope she can give us so many emotions as our previous astronaut Luca Parmitano.

Samantha will remain on the ISS for six months, between experiments and general maintenance, we hope she will find time to broadcast on hamradio bands with us on Earth.
