This Weekend: CQ Worldwide DX Contest SSB

We have come to the weekend devoted to the CQ Worldwide SSB Contest, the competition which is, without a doubt, the most popular of the year, not only for those trying to achieve a good result in the rankings, but also for those who want to spend an intense weekend on the radio, with good chances to work some new band.

The rules can be found at: http://www.cqww.com/rules.htm.

There are only small changes this year: here are the most significant ones:

Addition of a low power class for the MULTI-ONE category. This will make it easier for small DXpeditions to compete without the need to carry amplifiers.

Added ‘not identifying in a timely manner’ to the list of unsportsmanlike conduct. It is strongly recommended that stations identify at least once per minute.

The page http://www.ng3k.com/Misc/cqs2014.html contains a table outlining the main contest operations.

The team operating in the current dxpedition to Lord Howe I. will be taking part in the contest as VK9LM. They recommend to work them again in the contest even if you already worked them as VK9DLX. Follow their updates on www.lordhowe2014.org/index.php.
