Pascal, 9Q1PM, with assistance of Mr Henri and remote assistance of Henk, ON4AHF, did an excellent job preparing the candidates for the test. All 21 candidates passed! The exam was supervised by Mr Mpatamana of the Ministère des Postes Nouvelles Technologies de Communication and observed by Pascal, ON4CFC. The club has great plans to be on the air with their club station 9Q0AR on a regular basis.”

Such welcome news reminded us of a similar event, having taken place a month earlier in another troubled African country: Ethiopia.
During the ET3AA DXpedtion, led by Dave Collingham, K3LP, a VE Team administered FCC Amateur Radio License examinations for 62 (15 of them being girls!) university students within the Youth Development Project. The results were:

Total Number of tests conducted = 163
62 Students Tested; 57 successfully passed at least 1 license level
FCC Licenses Issued by type:
16 = Technician License (Element 2) exam
36 = General License (Element 3) exam
5 = Extra License (Element 4) exam

Marco, CE1TBN will be on the air from Huichas Island (IOTA SA-064) February 18-20, 2012. He will be operating as CE1TBN/7.Marco has amassed a great deal of activity since the year 2000, especially from Chilean IOTA references.

His activity will be on SSB and CW on 20,15 and 10 meters only with 100 watts. .

As for DXpeditions, after the intense activity of the past few weeks (ZK2C will have gone QRT before week’s end), we wish to remind you concerning the operation of H40FN and H40FK from Temotu Province on both CW and PSK.

And let’s not forget a few other operations (some of them are very interesting) by single operators:

- 6O3A will be active from Somalia during the ARRL CW contest. In the past few days he has often been heard on the air on CW and SSB. Daily updates here.

- FW0NAR is back on Wallis Island, after the short side-trip to Futuna. Unfortunately, his linear which he uses on 18 to 28 MHz is not working at the moment. Laci, FW0NAR, can still use the 300W amplifiers on the lower bands (1.8 – 14 MHz). You can follow his updates at here.

- 3B9/OE4AAC is active from Rodrigues Island on 40 through 10 meter CW.

He will be located in St. Elizabeth, where activity will be on HF on CW , SSB and RTTY.
