Ham rally in Torino – 27th Nov 2011
Sunday 27th november saw the Ham rally in Turin, held in the “Pozzo Strada” compound, where the local “A.R.I.” club is. Being the closest hamvention to my town (slightly more than one hour drive), I always gladly attend. For the second time (first was this summer), I enjoyed the extremely “affordable” dimension of this market. Not a lot of stalls, but that way you can check them deeply. Most of all, being organized by hams, nothing really stranger to our world is really admitted (and this should provide food for thoughts to other organizers!). I see surplus is becoming a topic with an increasing interest by other hams. It’s a good thing. Sadly, some sellers see more a speculation opportunity in “green radios”, than a collective growth moment. I saw some young colleagues, and this was another pleasant point. Also, there was a stall by the friends of local repeater IR1UDT, selling – at a very fair prices – radios and other kind of equipment. That’s the right attitude. Oh, are you curious about my findings? It’s a simple game: the 1995 edition of “World Radio TV Handbook”. The seller was asking 2 Euro. I couldn’t really resist, and Torino rally proved, once again, that “small” can be much more beautiful than big.
